HER STORY
Click here to hear the song-
Paulette was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in August 2014. A wife of 40 years to her high-school sweetheart Steve, a mother of two, a grandmother of three, a daughter, a sister, and a friend to many.
The strongest woman we know fought the greatest battle anyone could ever face. This woman of faith, hope and love and her husband believed for her miracle. In the end she did receive it... Eternal Life with her Savor, Jesus Christ.
If you've supported us before or are considering joining us, please read the following statement and information provided below regarding this deadly disease.
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Paulette but her legacy lives on***

The ALS Association (@alsassociation) tweeted at 1:05 PM on Tue, Nov 24, 2015: $250,000. That's the estimated annual cost for caring for someone with #ALS.

With that being said, THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT A TYPICAL LIKE OUR FAMILY MIGHT EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE THROUGH THIS ILLNESS. It has been estimated that Paulette's care was upwards of $200K per year. In January of 2015 there was a go-fund-me and tricky tray benefit dinner held to help up with the mounting medical expenses and also the necessities needed to accommodate her current needs. The monies raised were used to pay down medical expenses and purchase equipment, but there have been expenses that were not expected. Because Paulette could no longer get to her second-floor bedroom and bathroom, an extension was built on the first floor for a wheelchair-accessible bathroom. Also the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible van in order to get her to doctor appointments and live life getting about. Also needed was the hire of a part-time daily Health AID, which isn’t covered by insurance, to help her with her day to day necessities.
The cost for a supplemental health insurance plan to Medicare and paying for her part-time Healthcare AID (Dorothy), There are medical and paramedical expenses not covered by Insurance, special food, van upkeep, and basic living costs, etc ....

If you have given before, we thank you for your gifts and would ask that you consider once again helping this year. If you have not, we ask that you think and or pray about giving the most generous gift you can. In doing so you would be assisting families in Essex County that has helped many people throughout their lives, and if you know them you were likely to have been touched by their life in a positive way. NOW is a way to bless them back in their time of need.
